His father and grandfather trained their dogs in Europe to protect the land and livestock. His father passed on his knowledge to him. He still uses some of his techniques along with today's modern training methods. In 1977 he started working as a training apprentice in a dog training school in N.Y.C. He learned about different breeds, techniques and theories of training dogs. After a year as an apprentice he was given the responsibility of consulting with clients along with doing the majority of the dog training at the school.
In the early 1980's, Matt started his own company known as Alert Dog Training. At the same time, he
was also working at a boarding kennel doing obedience lessons. He met a K9 officer at the kennel and soon found himself decoying and training with several police K9 units and private security companies.
In the 1990's Matt was exposed to French Ring Sport and was immediately hooked. It is considered by many dog handlers and trainers as the most exciting and difficult of all dog sports. He has trained several of his own dogs to the highest level of Ring III and placed 1st multiple times and continues to train and compete in the sport.
Matt looks forward to working with you and your dog to exceed all of your expectations.
